New Year, new you?
How about the ‘Real You’!

Happy New Year
This is such a great time to start things anew, a fresh start for a new way forward, an improved way of living that allows you to feel better and better. Many of us tend to make new year resolutions, but for me, resolutions just never seem to last, my willpower somehow drains away quicker every time to the point of blink and your’ve missed it!

It seems to me that we can become so consumed with creating a ‘new us’ that after a while it becomes exhausting work that we just can’t keep up. I mean, I cant be employing willpower every single time I open my fridge door, thats enough to make even the toughest of us crack at some point!

Consider this, in the quest for a new you are we making life harder than necessary and totally missing the point along the way? What if it wasn’t a new you that was needed, rather an uncovering and exploration of the real you? Layer by layer, piece by piece a commitment to yourself to uncover that which you truly are at your essence - healthy, happy, vibrant, passionate, confident and just brimming with wellness. This is who you really are anyway, at your core you are all of these things already, you don’t need to create them they just need to be found and then allowed to blossom.

The difference in pursuing the real you as opposed to a new you is the difference between commitment and willpower. The first is a willingness to listen to yourself and becomes easy once you choose to follow the signs and make time for yourself, the latter takes effort and hard work as you tunnel your way through ignoring how you really do feel.

When you commit to allowing the real you to shine through you take action from a place of feeling good and being inspired, but when you take action from wanting to create a new you we tend to fall into action born out of necessity and discomfort.

When you are inspired you find things that feel good, that are fun and you enjoy. Things that your body likes and responds to, and in this way changes occur quickly. But, when you decide to do things from the feeling like you have to in order to change what you don’t like you fall into doing things that don’t always feel good to you, that do take willpower to keep up, and your body has this knack of becoming very stubborn and it just refuses to budge, even an inch!

These may seem like subtle differences, and they are, but they make a world of difference to your experience.

So, gift yourself the freedom to just discover the real you... your own weight, your own body shape, your own passions, your own dreams, your own likes, your own foods, your own way of exercising, just you, who you are as the wonderful individual that you are already, just be you! I think I feel lighter already!

Happy New Year!
